About Guru Fatick Chowdhury

 

Guru Fatick Chowdhury is a renowned composer and music teacher with an extraordinary command of classical and modern music. His expertise spans a wide range of styles, including Ragas, Dhrupadas, Dhamars, Khyaals, Thumris, Ghazals, Bhajans, Nazrul, Shyamasangeet, Kirtans, and various raga-based songs. His melodious voice has the power to transport listeners into a mesmerizing trance.

Born into a family of musicians, Guru Fatick Chowdhury was exposed to music from an early age, being introduced to the Tanpura before he could even speak. At seven, he studied classical music with his uncle, Late Amlendu Nandi, and his aunt, Manju Nandi. In 1974, he joined Arya Sangeet Samiti, where he trained in the Benares style under Late Pandit Sri Nirmalendu Chowdhury and Late Pandit Mihir Lala. He also studied the Gwalior style with Late Pandit Nirod Baran Barua and earned a gold medal diploma in 1988.

Guru Fatick Chowdhury further honed his skills in the Delhi style of classical music at Nazrul Academy, studying under the late Ustad Ful Mohammed and earning his diploma in 1994. He also received specialized training in Nazrul Sangeet from Late Legend Pandit Sudhin Das. & Late Guru Khalid Hossain Fatick's dedication to his craft made him a favored student of the Late Ustad Aktar Sadmani at the Sur Rang Academy of Classical Music, where he embraced and mastered the Kirana Gharana.

Guru Fatick Chowdhury completed his Bachelor's degree at Dhaka Government Sangeet Mohabidyalay and earned a Master of Music from Dhaka University.
